About Tina

Meet Tina, the professional word nerd:

Hey, y’all! 👋

My name is Tina Crouch, and I help intermediate and advanced English learners communicate professionally and creatively.

I started Tina Teaches English in April 2020, and have since held more than 2,000 individual and group coaching sessions, as well as published a book and workbook.

Whether you have a job interview, work presentation, or specific writing skills you want to improve, I can be your coach!

I always wanted to work with words.

I grew up in Oklahoma (right above Texas) surrounded by books, stories, and stacks of my own handwritten creative writing projects. Reading so much gave me an instinct for when grammar just felt right.

It also gave me a love of adventure and travel… Which led me to a content marketing internship in London. Naturally, I began my career in marketing — it was the perfect way to use both my writing skills and my business degree. It was exciting to work in the Silicon Roundabout for a tech startup, but I was more motivated by how much of my writing was published to their blog, website, and social media accounts.

While going on adventures — and making friends all over the world — I was inspired to study Italian. My language learning journey has been both fun and challenging. I can appreciate how my coaching clients feel when they work in a non-native language.

5/5
"You are the best teacher I have had because you are completely present and focus during the class. You do your best every time it's very respectful for your students. Your exercise with free writing allows me to write imperfectly... Now because of that, I'm not afraid anymore to write in English or in my language. My goal was to speak and understand English. Now I understand 90% and I can have conversations!"

Coaching students and watching them improve over time is the best feeling!

My first coaching experience — when I discovered how much I enjoy it — was when I turned 16 years old. After years of riding lessons, I became an equestrian coach, teaching beginners (ages 4 to 50!) to feel comfortable and confident on horseback. 🐴

My coaching experience includes:

  • 2,000+ online 1:1 language coaching sessions for…
    • Business Owners, Professionals, Job Seekers
    • MBA & Undergraduate Students
    • Public Speakers & Coaches
    • IELTS Essay Prep Students & Creative Writers
  • 2 years as a volunteer reading & literacy tutor

And if we’re counting non-English-language coaching…

  • 7+ years as a horseback riding coach (kids and adults!)
  • 6 years as a social media marketing consultant & workshop leader

The Beginning of Tina Teaches English

After my full-time writing and editing work was put on hold during the chaos of spring 2020, I decided to help English learners with my own language that I love using so much.

I thought it would be temporary, but I loved my new clients so much I decided to expand it into my own business, Tina Teaches English. Sharing what I know, helping students reach their goals, and getting to know people from all over the world are the most exciting things about coaching for me.

Some of my 1:1 coaching methods I learned from my most effective Italian tutors. Some of them I picked up in workshops for teachers of English as an additional language.

.

I help intermediate and advanced English speakers feel comfortable and confident with the skills they already have.

My own goal is to keep everything relaxed so you can retain everything you learn. Most importantly, you can start using everything you already know, with more trust in yourself.

Who needs more stress?! No one. Language lessons and coaching sessions should be something you can look forward to. Even if you need to practice talking about marketing or finance during a business meeting.

(Maybe especially if you need to practice business English!)

And because of my corporate experience, I’ve worked with a lot of English-learning clients preparing for job interviews, promotions, or big presentations. I wanted to help as many job seekers as possible with interview preparation, so I interviewed a few of my Human Resource certified experts and created the first of my products, a book.
